When I came in this morning Betty told me Dave was looking for me. After tracking Dave down on the floor, he told me he was getting conflicting reports from the supervisors. Basically TheBigMainApp was down. The supervisor said everyone was down, but Dave said only four agents reported a problem. They said it was a dreaded run-time error. I told them to submit a trouble ticket and I headed back to my office to put a Diet Dr Pepper in the fridge. Looked like one of those days.

Dave came in about 30 minutes later and said that Mary indicated the problem wasn’t with TheBigMainApp, but was with Screenpop. Dave said Albert was beginning to lose his cool, so I headed out there to see what was up. Albert brought me over to the first agent with the problem. Remarkably, there were only two agents with this run-time error. He proudly showed me the error, and I clicked OK. TheBigMainApp closed and I told him to open up Screenpop, then the Rockwell Phone Panel, and then tried TheBigMainApp again. Voila, no error. Angels sang out, in all their resplendent glory… no, wait. Albert said, “let’s try this other agent.” My mistake. So we went over to the other pod and the fix worked. No recompiles necessary. I love it when I can fix the problem without changing code. Round one is over, and I head back to my office to grab that not-quite-so-warm soda.
