news!
- nathan
I have quite a lot to update about. I started a new job last Thursday. I was tired of being underpaid while driving 90+ minutes a day, so I decided to get something on this side of the water. It’s nice so far - I got to keep my current position as a flex employee, so I’m pretty happy about that. It’s nice to not burn any bridges - you never know who you’ll meet in the future.
At my new job they gave me a decent laptop - it’s used, but certainly functional. The battery that came with it had a 37 minute life, so I requested a new battery. That should come today. I’m working as a Sr. Consultant for Internosis. I’m currently on a contract for Verizon, so I’m working over at the old Newmarket Mall. I love going home for lunch!
The stuff I’m working on is ok - mostly VB6 and ASP, with a sprinkling of Perl scripting in a Solaris environment. The company would like to transition everything over to .NET (as would I), so I’ll be working on that in the upcoming year. Things are pretty slow at the beginning, I’m just fixing things that break. Fortunately, stuff doesn’t break too often, so I’m good there.
Anyway, that’s all for now. Sorry if I’ve been quiet lately, just lots of stuff going on.

Hey there,
Happened to read your earlier post in which you mention hoping to run shirtless regularly. That sort of comfort was sort of my quiet goal for years but I was always too embarrassed, even when I restarted half-way regular jogging. Then, one day, I deliberately took off my vest and left it behind before heading out - it took a bit of will, but removed the option of chickening out. Friends/ neighbours were slightly taken a back and it wasn’t easy but, after a while, they (and you) get used to it: It became too uncomfortable running with a shirt on. Trust me, it makes you more disciplined about staying in shape (wife began saying I looked more toned, heh heh). Anyway, I’ve lapsed a bit and am just starting the process again (sigh). Am at shirtlessjogger05@yahoo.co.uk if you ever want to compare notes. At all events, best wishes in staying fit.
