carpenter by day, programmer by night

Raegan and I got up early this morning (about 6:10 am) and hung the gate on our fence. Pictures are on Raegan’s photo blog. You may have to scroll down just a bit to see them. We framed the gate yesterday, but didn’t have the hardware to hang it. When we finally got the hardware, it was dark outside. I couldn’t bear to wait until Tuesday after work to hang it, so we decided to get up this morning and get it done. It worked out wonderfully. I think we might need to still put a 2×4 going diagonally across the gate, but that can wait until this weekend.

Now I’m here at work and I’m ready to go home. Maybe if I can force myself to open the editor and start writing some code the day will go faster. We’ll see.

another poll thingy…

Got this from Ed:

01. do you still know/talk to the person you lost your virginity to?
Yes. I’m married to her.

02. what would you do with 1,000 plastic spoons?
eat lots of cereal and ice cream.

03. what kind of music did you listen to in elementary school?
Maranatha praise/worship music pretty much exclusively. Dad wouldn’t let us listen to the radio, unless it was baseball.

04. what is the best thing about your current job?
I have an office with a life-sized Dilbert in the corner. I also have a kick-butt computer/monitor setup.

05. do you wish cell phone etiquette was a required class upon purchasing one?
I just wish people weren’t dumb.

06. are you against marriage?
No. I love being married. If you think of marriage as a “five-year commitment” then you’ll have some serious problems.

07. what’s the most f—– up food combination you’ve come up with that’s actually tasty?
i like french fries and ice cream.

08. have you been on a date in the past week (or just slept with anyone?)
Yes.

09. if yes… how did it go, if no, why not?
It was great. We went out for mexican and saw Serenity.

10. where are you going on your next vacation?
Florida to see my in-laws.

11. quote a song lyric.
“…I don’t believe that little boys grow up to be little girls…”

12. are most of the friends in your life new or old?
old. except for the new ones.

13. would you rather lose an arm or an eye?
well, i play piano and guitar, and that would suck to lose an arm. but i really like my eyes. i dislike this question.

14. do you own any furniture from Ikea?
no

15. are you ashamed of having it?
if anyone wants to try to make me feel guilty or ashamed about any of my furniture, well, i’ll take offense at that. Jerks.

16. what do you wish someone would buy you?
a new house, a nice car that will hold a few kids and a mastiff, and loads of other stuff.

17. what do you think of hipsters?
um, i don’t really.

18. what are you wearing right now?
business casual.

19. when is the last time you had mother’s home cooking?
sat. night.

22. do you ever wish you were gay/straight?
no.

23. tell us about the last conversation you had.
i said goodbye to raegan this morning.

24. where do you see yourself in one month?
Let’s see… beginning of Nov. Probably doing the same thing I’m doing now. Working, going to school, getting ready to drive down to FL for T-giving.

25. what is your favorite smell?
springtime right after it rains

26. home depot: pure evil or pure genius?
Lowe’s is better. As a homeowner, I love them.

27. do you consider yourself bi-polar?
no.

28. what is the time and the outside temperature at the moment?
9:34 am, it’s like 75 degrees or something last time I stepped outside.
