monitors

I just got new monitors at work. I asked for Dell 19″ LCD’s with an adjustable stand. Instead I got Acer 19″ LCD’s with no adjustable stand. These are pretty nice monitors. I was able to get rid of my monitor risers, so I have a ton more desk space now. I’m going to take my 17″ monitors home and use them there. (I bought them and brought them into work about 15 months ago).

Car accident

Well, the Pontiac has been declared a total loss. We could actually fix it and still have a couple grand left over, but that would take about 6 weeks. I don’t want to deal with that hassle, so we’re looking at new (to us) cars. I thought I wanted a late-nineties Volvo station wagon, but I’m thinking now I want a late-nineties Chevy Suburban or Ford Expedition. Take that, E.L.F.!!! In fact, just this morning I found a ‘99 Suburban LS with a Vortec V-8, 7.4 L engine. *drool* Unfortunately, after hearing they get about 11 mpg, she told me “No.” I tried to tell her that the 290 HP would be worth it, but she stood her ground.

We need something big enough to hold an 87 lb puppy (gonna be 200+ lbs in about 6-8 months) and some car seats. Plus I need plenty of room for the Media Center computer I’m going to build and stick in there. Thinking minivan or SUV… any ideas? Anything to avoid?

I hate catching snippets of conversation. In our main lobby at work, I overheard this gem: “…can catch a staph infection, but they said I’m fine…”

All the other senses we can “turn off”. I can choose not to touch someone, I can shut my eyes, I can not put something in my mouth. Heck, I can even hold my breath for short periods of time to avoid bad smells. *looks annoyedly at the dog* But I can’t not hear something.

I worked at a manufacturing plant a few years ago, and everyone walked around with ear plugs in. It was very nice. That reminds me… a pair of Raegan’s ear plugs had an interesting journey in the past couple of days. Let’s just say she found them where Titus goes #2. *shudder*

It’s snowing. Yesterday I drove with the top down (we have a rental car that’s a convertible) and today it’s snowing. This is freakin’ ridiculous.
